B2day Business Blog : Business 2.0 content on CNN is now free !
If you go to the main Business 2.0 Website you will notice that you get redirected to our new home at CNNMoney.com. The look is a lot cleaner, but the big news is that now all Business 2.0 content is open and available for free. (Before, you had to be a subscriber to get access to all the content).
That’s the good news. The bad news is that we are literally starting from scratch as far as the Web is concerned. All links to previous stories now just get redirected to the main B2.0 homepage on CNNMoney.com, so any individual stories that were previously ranked highly by any of the search engines now must build up their PageRanks all over again as if they were brand new stories. (The reasons for this are complicated, but I am told the amount of work that would be required to preserve the old link structure is just not worth it). The new site is still in soft-launch mode and the engineers are still working out the kinks, but it should be fully operational by next week.
