“There’s nothing new under the sun.”
I guess you’ve heard that one before! Did you know the expression has been in common usage for over two thousand years?
Insight into the human condition is as old as the human mind, and much of what has been observed, interpreted and commented upon through the ages offers us a chance to put our lives into context.
Not simply in historical context, but as shared human experience.
Deja Vu isn’t a concept. It’s a reality. We are living with many of the same challenges and opportunities, triumphs and tragedies, heroes and villains (though some now go by other names), as did folks like Ben Franklin.
During his long and productive life, Franklin played many a role in colonial America and the founding of the United States. His insights, perceptions, and collected folklore often seem as relevant to us today as they might have been had we walked with him along those 18th century thoroughfares.
I hope you enjoy these first postings, that you’ll come back often to explore the timeless observations of Ben Franklin, and that you’ll feel free to share your own insights into the history you and I are making, right or wrong, here and now
