My first blog ever used was at Blogger.com. It was an eye-opening experience and I graduated to WordPress when I joined Duncan Riley’s Weblog Empire Blogging Network (BlogHerald fame) in opening up The Gadget Blog. After that, it was a constant challenge to go through the numerous wordpress plugins available from IImage Browser to WP-Cache . From that, I even made some foray into Movable Type that was used at Project Petaling Street (PPS) as I did some guest blogging over there.
So I thought WordPress was the direction of the blogging universe until I saw this news in Yahoo about them offering Movable Type to bloggers ! Looks like there’s gonna be some hot stuff coming out from the Yahoo factory in 2006. Not only have they bought over Flickr and del.icio.us this year, making Movable Type available to bloggers smells like they can offer a very good blogging portal or service. Let’s just hope they don’t run into server problems.
Sunnyvale, California-based Yahoo said it will offer commercial blogs based on Movable Type as part of its existing small business Web-site management service. Yahoo provides customers with a unique Web address, blogging tools and business-class e-mail services with spam and virus protections for less than $12 a month.
